MEXICO: THE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FENTANYL EPIDEMIC

During the presidency of Lopez Obrador, the Mexican “cartels” has not only left the highest number of homicides for a six-year term (148 thousand to date), he is also co-responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of Americans in our neighboring country due to fentanyl overdose.

But what is fentanyl?

Here are some important facts related to the Fentanyl epidemic:

  • Fentanyl is a synthetic “opioid” pain reliever, similar to morphine, although 50 to 100 times stronger than it. Even 2mg of fentanyl (just over two grains of salt) can be a lethal dose.
  • High potency greatly increases the risk of overdose, especially if a drug user is unaware that a powder or pill contains fentanyl.
  • Young people between 15 and 29 years are the main victims of this drug.
  • According to the DEA, a “kilo” of fentanyl is equivalent to 50 of heroin, a kilo of powder can be transformed into a million pills of one milligram. On the black market, that kilo could generate illicit income of up to 20 million dollars.
  • The DEA assures that there is a «direct link» between the deaths related to fentanyl in the US and the criminal networks of drug traffickers in Mexico.
  • Sinaloa is the main producer of fentanyl
  • The Sinaloa Cartels (CDS) and Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) are known to obtain the chemical precursors for fentanyl from China.
  • The DEA has observed “a large increase in the amount of contraband pills, made directly with the Mexican cartels.”
  • The cartels use the social networks Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to promote their products.
  • Deaths from fentanyl overdose in the North American country reach an unprecedented level. According to data from the health authorities, between February 2021 and February 2022, almost 109,000 people lost their lives due to it.
  • Between 8 and 12 people die every day from fentanyl
  • The consumption of this drug has skyrocketed overdose cases and is already the leading cause of death among adults between the ages of 18 and 45.
  • Mexican drug traffickers now produce more fentanyl due to AMLO’s ‘hugs, no bullets’ policy and the US is the most affected.»

Repercussions for Mexico

The consequences of inaction on the part of the Mexican government to contain the drug cartels in their criminal work of manufacturing and trafficking illegal substances to the United States will be serious and decisive.

In fact, they already started. In September 2022, the Governor Abbott of Texas signed a decree to consider the Mexican cartels as terrorists due to the issue of fentanyl. On February 16, 2023, Head of the DEA Anne Milgram, denounced before the Senate that Mexico is not cooperating with the US to stop fentanyl trafficking. And if we add to this the formal request that 21 US Attorneys General made to President Biden on February 9 to declare the Mexican cartels as «terrorists», we can say that everything seems to indicate that the US is going to take action against López Obrador and his morena-cartel-party.

The strong expressions of some members of the North American government about Obrador and his administration are are not surprise. He has not only taken away the right to life of thousands and thousands of children, women, youth, and adults in Mexican country by stealing the 33,000 million pesos from the fund for catastrophic diseases (that money was to buy medicines against cancer and diabetes), but, with its negligent policy of «hugs and no bullets» in favor of his “partners” in organized crime, is allowing the murder of hundreds of thousands of Mexicans and the death by overdose of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

With these numbers, president López Obrador will be recognized in history as the greatest genocide in America, as a guy who only became president of Mexico to satisfy his ego, his need of power, destruction, corruption, and death. Therefore, it is not risky to say that Obrador would have to be tried in The Haya for crimes against humanity, together with his Secretary of Defense, Navy, foreign affairs “Marcelo Ebrard”, healt Hugo López Gatell and security Rosa Icela Rodríguez.

It is clear that Mexico had lousy governments in the past with, however, today we can affirm that we live in a Narco-terrorism State in México, and the proof si that organized crime is the one who rules Mexico.

In addition, things get even more complicated to Obrador, since the former US Attorney under Donald Trumo, William Barr, suggested a military intervention in Mexico against Mexican drug cartels to solve the fentanyl crisis.  In a column published in The Wall Street Journal, he stated that «AMLO protects them»:

«The head of the serpent is in Mexico, and that is where the main thrust of our efforts should be directed.»

William Barr.

The former prosecutor argued that almost all the drugs that enter the US are controlled by Mexican cartels, mainly those based in the states of Sinaloa and Jalisco, in addition to producing more than 100,000 deaths a year from overdoses and causing an economic impact of 5% of GDP. Barr affirmed that the Mexican cartels have grown because the mexican administrations have not been willing to face them; although although he recognized former President Felipe Calderón as an exception who wanted to fight the cartels, unfortunately «US priorities were elsewhere at that time» and currently, «Andres Manuel López Obrador is not willing to take action against the cartels».

In the article titled «The United States must defeat Mexico’s drug cartels,» he noted that today «the main facilitator of the cartels is President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.»

William Barr also said that “the injured country has the right to take direct measures to eliminate the threat, with or without the approval of the host country”. This would happen if the US government declared drug cartels terrorists. Still, even if Obrador were willing to move against the cartels, Mexico can’t do the job itself.

The voices that call for direct intervention in Mexico in the absence of a security strategy in our country are so many and so powerful that on January 12, 2023, an initiative called «Resolution 18» was presented to authorize the use of the armed forces to act against those responsible for trafficking fentanyl from Mexico. This initiative, sent by Republican congressmen Dan Crenshaw and Mike Waltz, specifically targets (by name or denomination) the Mexican cartels, and against which, if they were considered terrorist groups, would be authorized «military use to combat, attack, resist, target, eliminate and limit that influence”.

From all this, we can only deduce that it will be a matter of time before the US goverment finally decides to put a stop to López Obrador and his criminal complicity with the drug cartels. The impact of its non-existent security policy will end up being one of the main causes of its downfall.

Time is against Obrador and that is why he urgently needs to destroy democracy by taking control of all the autonomous organs of the Mexican State like “INE”. The army has already succumbed, the same as the legislative power, the supreme court of justice is fighting.

Mexico is a powder keg about to explode, but probably, what ignites the wick will be the actions that our neighbors in the north take to defend themselves from the corruption and negligence of our government.

We´ll see.
